Cable Lay Equipment Consultancy
Nordic Offshore Systems provides independent, vendor-neutral consultancy for cable lay systems (CLS) — overseeing vendor deliveries, commissioning tensioners, and supporting new vessel builds for cable-laying operators and equipment OEMs.
What we do
Nordic Offshore Systems covers the full technical lifecycle of cable lay equipment, from initial design review through active offshore campaigns. The scope typically includes:
- Vendor follow-up and technical supervision of CLS equipment deliveries
- Tensioner commissioning, performance verification, and operations support
- Maintenance planning and improvement advisory for existing systems
- Consultancy and planning for new vessel builds and CLS conversions
- Supplier coordination, documentation review, and technical assurance from design to campaign close-out
Every engagement produces documentation-grade deliverables — specs, inspection records, and revision-controlled reports — that you can hand to class, client, or the next team on the vessel.
Why independent matters
Nordic Offshore Systems does not supply or represent any equipment manufacturer. That independence is the point. When a vendor delivers a tensioner or carousel system, you need someone on your side whose only job is to confirm the delivery meets requirements — not to protect a commercial relationship with the OEM.
Acting as the client's independent technical advisor, Nordic Offshore Systems verifies that OEM deliveries are complete, safe, and operationally ready before the vessel mobilises. If something falls short, you hear it directly and in writing.
Cable lay equipment is the core competency. Offshore IT and network infrastructure is the differentiator that makes Nordic Offshore Systems a single point of contact for vessel-level technical assurance.
Experience behind it
The advisory is grounded in 16+ years hands-on offshore work across 20+ projects with zero lost-time incidents (zero LTI). That record covers not just desk-based review but active site roles: commissioning, operations, and follow-up on real vessels and real campaigns.
Key project experience includes:
- Site team on NKT Victoria during MAATS CLS installation; subsequent follow-up on NKT Eleonora
- Offshore campaigns: Hornsea 2, Smørbukk, Goliat, Troll, Oseberg Delta 2
- Hands-on work across 7 OEM platforms: MAATS Tech, Huisman, NOV Remacut, Parkburn, MacGregor, Amclyde, and Flextrack
That range of platforms means assessments and recommendations are based on direct operational experience — not manufacturer marketing material.
Who it's for
Nordic Offshore Systems works with two primary client groups:
- Cable-laying operators — NKT, Nexans, Prysmian, Aker Solutions, and similar companies that own or operate cable-lay vessels and need independent technical oversight of their CLS equipment
- Equipment OEMs — MAATS Tech, Huisman, NOV Remacut, and other manufacturers that require independent commissioning, acceptance testing, or technical documentation support for deliveries
If you are planning a vessel build, managing a CLS upgrade, or preparing for a campaign and need a vendor-neutral specialist to own the technical assurance scope, get in touch to discuss the scope.
